At Alpha Phi Ohio State, we are beyond passionate about our philanthropy, the Alpha Phi Foundation. This past year alone, our chapter raised over $32,000 through our various endeavors to raise awareness for women’s heart health, gaining us recognition as the most improved Midwestern Alpha Phi chapter. Our sisters recognize the importance of the fact that heart disease is the number one killer of women in the United States, and we strive day after day to advocate for the importance of women’s heart health. Below are a few of the events our chapter organizes each year to support the Alpha Phi Foundation and raise awareness for women’s heart health in our community.
Red Dress Gala
The Red Dress Gala is our biggest philanthropy event of the year. Members of Rho are encouraged to invite family and friends to this exciting event, held at the Ohio Statehouse in the heart of downtown Columbus. Festivities include a cocktail hour, reception, dinner, musical entertainment, exciting speakers, and silent auction. All Alpha Phis wear red dresses to raise awareness for women’s heart health.
We partnered with our neighborhood Chick-fil-A to raise awareness for women’s heart health during our first annual Chick-Phil-A fundraiser in the fall semester of 2018. Members of Rho handed out chicken sandwiches and other treats to students while informing them of the prevalence of women’s heart health issues.
This year’s competition for the title of Mr. Ivy 2019 was fierce! Contestants took part in Fear Factor-inspired challenges in the hopes of earning the title and a grant for their selected philanthropic cause.
Alpha Phi Rho’s first annual Pasta Pheast featured an all-you-can-eat pasta buffet, with all proceeds benefiting the Alpha Phi Foundation.
